Chevrolet debuts totally redesigned 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban
Since all the way back in 1936, Chevrolet Suburban has been helping Americans find their way to new adventures with a great mix of trucklike capability and interior cargo room and comfort, making it the longest-running continuously-used nameplate of any manufacturer. And for the last 25 years, the Chevy Tahoe has been the Suburban’s shorter-wheelbase stablemate, with a winning blend of features and driveability.
Recently, Chevrolet announced the next chapter of the long story of Tahoe and Suburban, with the debut of the 2021 Tahoe and 2021 Suburban. Adopting the futuristic look and next-generation capability of the redesigned Chevy Silverado, the 2021 full-size Tahoe and Suburban are here to take your drive to the next level with more refinement, more power, more technology and more interior room than ever before.
While the new 2021 Suburban and Tahoe won’t be on the lot here at McLarty Daniel Chevrolet of Springdale until next spring, we’re excited to share everything we know about these incredible SUVs.
Since the beginning, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe have shared styling with Chevrolet full-size pickup, and that continues with the 2021 models. In addition to a bold new front grille, hood and fenders, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe share the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado’s cab-forward design, with a shorter hood and more interior room than ever before. Both the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban will feature class-leading interior space, including 60 percent more cargo room behind the third row for Tahoe, and 19 percent more maximum cargo space behind the first row for Suburban with the seats folded down.
The interior of both is dramatically upgraded and technology advanced as well, including a standard 10-inch in-dash touchscreen that’s the largest in class, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a segment-first 15 inch heads-up display that projects crucial data onto the windshield, and available dual 12.6-inch rear-seat entertainment screens.
Upping the interior room even more is the fact that for the first time, the second row seats in the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban can slide, adjusting 5.5 inches (140 mm) forward or backward to improve legroom and cargo room for both the second or third rows in seconds. Both the second- and third-row seats can also fold with less effort. Combined with a longer wheelbase and a flatter, lower floor, it’s a home run when it comes to utility.
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe are all-new under the skin as well, with a new drivetrain architecture with a fully-independent rear suspension and a longer wheelbase for more passenger room, hauling capacity, exterior proportions and driving dynamics. The revamped suspension creates a drastic improvement in both handling and ride smoothness while allowing the load floors to be significantly lower for easier loading and unloading. Also available on Tahoe and Suburban is the cutting edge Magnetic Ride Control, plus, for the first time in any SUV in its class, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, for automatic load leveling and up to four inches more ground clearance at the touch of a button.
Under the hood, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe continue to shine with updated V8 engines with dynamic fuel management for the ultimate in fuel economy plus best-in-class V8 horsepower of up to 420 hp. Prefer a diesel engine? The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban can deliver thanks to the all-new 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel with unbeatable low-end torque and fuel economy. Nobody does towing better than Suburban and Tahoe, either, with best-in-class nine camera views and new trailering features including trailer profile memory, trailer tire pressure and temperature monitoring, and side blind zone alert that can be extended to cover a trailer in tow.
“With an increasing number of SUVs on the market, we knew the all-new Tahoe and Suburban needed to reach higher than ever,” said Tim Herrick, vice president, global product programs. “We transformed Tahoe and Suburban to offer all-new technologies and features and deliver a better driving experience, while staying true to the versatility and capability that have earned people’s trust for generations.”
Between the introduction of great new vehicles like the 2020 Chevy Blazer, 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, mid-engine 2020 Corvette and Chevrolet redesigning their entire full-size light-duty, heavy duty and SUV truck line in the past two years, it’s been an exciting time around here at McLarty Daniel Chevrolet of Springdale! Come share our excitement and check out the next generation of incredible Chevy vehicles.
