There's plenty to see and do in Hot Springs besides taking a long bath in naturally-heated hot water, though, including learning about Hot Springs' former identity as a mobster hangout as well as the spring training site for early 1900s baseball greats, including Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and Babe Ruth, who swatted the first 300-plus-foot home run in Hot Springs' Whittington Park. Visit the National Park Headquarters inside the old Fordyce Bathhouse on Central Avenue for full information about local attractions. Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site Springfield, Illinois Distance from NWA: 419 miles Considered America's greatest-ever president by many historians, Abraham Lincoln rose from humble beginnings to become the savior of the Union and the man who finally drove the stain of chattel slavery from the United States. For those looking to walk in Honest Abe's long shadow, a visit to Springfield, Illinois and the Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site is a bucket-list trip. Established in August 1971, the site at 413 S. Eighth Street in Springfield preserves the only home that Lincoln ever owned in his lifetime: a twelve room house that Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln purchased in 1844. Lincoln would live there, building his law career, until he won the presidency in 1861. Sadly, his assassination by John Wilkes Booth days after the end of the Civil War in 1865 meant he would never live there again. Today, the site includes the Lincolns' restored home, which you can tour, along with four surrounding blocks and a visitor's center. Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site Little Rock, Arkansas Distance from NWA: 200 miles Many of our National Historic Sites, Parks and Monuments were set aside to commemorate moments of turmoil and turbulence in our national story, but few speak more about the courage of young people than Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site. Established as a National Historic Site in November 1998 during the tenure of Arkansas-born president Bill Clinton, Central High National Historic Site serves to recall the events of Fall 1957, when nine black teenagers, now known as the Little Rock Nine, sought to integrate the city's all-white high school following the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling by the Supreme Court three years prior. What followed was a firestorm of controversy, with President Dwight D. Eisenhower eventually sending in troops to ensure that the nine students could attend school. Today, the site is centered on the circa 1927 school and a visitor's center where you can learn more about the nine brave teens who changed the course of American history. While you're in town, don't miss the life-size statues of the Little Rock Nine on the Arkansas State Capitol grounds. Gateway Arch National Park St. Louis, Missouri Distance from NWA: 323 miles That's right: St. Louis is reachable in the 2020 Chevy Trax on far less than one tank of fuel! Chevy releases details on the 2021 Tahoe Police Patrol Vehicle Since 1997, when the first police-issue Chevy Tahoe models were introduced to law enforcement agencies all over America, the Chevy Tahoe has been helping officers fight crime with a near-perfect blend of imposing size, ease of upfitting, performance, high-speed handling, interior comfort, rock-solid reliability and gear-hungry cargo room. Now, the Chevy Tahoe is ready to help the next generation of First Responders. Chevrolet recently released the full details on the all-new 2021 ChevyTahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV), and it looks to be a game changer in the war on crime. Packed with heavy-duty components designed to take on the rigors of life on the beat, a high-performance powertrain built for running down law breakers, and cutting-edge safety features to help officers stay safe, the 2021 Tahoe PPV are the next big thing in law enforcement, coming soon to a department near you. "Tahoe is the most aspirational vehicle in the law enforcement industry," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet. "By listening to the needs of officers from around the country, we have built the best Tahoe ever." Based on the totally-redesigned consumer-grade version of the Chevrolet Tahoe -- which in turn borrows styling from the latest generation of Chevy Silverado 1500 -- the Tahoe PPV is powered by a high-performance version of GM's legendary 5.3-liter V8, backed by a 10-speed automatic. Among other upgrades, the engine borrows rocker covers from the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1's LT4 V8, allowing for improved crankcase ventilation. Both engine oil and transmission fluid gain heavy-duty, high-capacity cooling systems for reliable performance no matter what the speed or the temperature outside. In addition, Chevrolet worked directly with Bridgestone Tires to develop high-speed-rated all-season tires specifically for the 2021 Tahoe PPV. In addition to being less likely to blow out during high speed pursuits, the tires improved stopping distances by a full 11 feet. To improve high-speed driving, the suspension of the 2021 Tahoe PPV has been heavily massaged as well, including unique monotube shocks, heavier stabilizer bars, a slightly lower ride height and a heavy-duty, clutch-type limited slip rear differential. Bringing things to a safe halt in the Tahoe PPV are heavy duty disc brakes by racing supplier Brembo, including Brembo six-piston front calipers on 16 inch rotors. Officers will find a lot to like inside the Tahoe PPV as well, including a 140 mile per hour speedometer, the 2021 Tahoe's class-leading interior space, and new police-specific front seats that allow for comfortable seating while wearing a gun belt. When it's time to transport suspects, the rear door openings are now 3.5 inches wider than the previous generation of Tahoe, for easier loading of handcuffed passengers. Technology helps officers work harder and smarter, and the 2021 Tahoe PPV has tech in spades, including an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, a standard HD rear vision camera and Rear Park Assist.
