If you’re old enough, you may remember the days when Mattel’s famous Hot Wheels cars came with the classic redline tires. If you’re not quite that seasoned, maybe what the word “redline” means to you is pushing an engine right to the screaming limit. Whatever your mental connections with the term, though, redline probably has a few of the same connotations: cars, fun, and making things go really, really fast.

Chevrolet’s Redline Edition edition cars, trucks and crossovers attempt to tap into that vein of go-fast nostalgia while fielding some of the best-looking cars on the road today. Based on a group of concept cars that debuted at the 2015 SEMA show in Las Vegas, the Redline Edition Chevrolets are nearly unique in the market in that they use individual takes on a common color scheme and set of design cues to unite nine individual models of Chevrolet vehicles. Available Redline Chevys include the Cruze Hatchback, Cruze Sedan, Malibu, Camaro LT/SS, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Colorado midsize truck and Silverado 1500 double cab Z71 or crew cab Z71 full-size pickup. It’s the biggest cross-model special edition ever offered by a car maker, even taking into account the 1960s heyday of the legendary Chevrolet SS nameplate.

All the 2018 Redline Edition Chevrolets are available only in Summit White, Deep Black or Silver Ice Metallic, and feature black-painted alloy wheels with red hash mark accents. We’re partial to the sinister black, but the stark white and elegant silver look smashing as well. Tapping into colors associated with Chevy’s long racing heritage, a deep crimson red and basic black are the overall theme of the Redline editions, with details including black Chevy bowties, black emblems outlined in red, red towhooks on the pickups, and other accessories.
